Frequently Asked Questions

Planning home renovations often brings up plenty of questions. Here are answers to some common things homeowners ask before starting.

FAQ Icon
  • Is it cheaper to renovate or build a new house?

It can sometimes be cheaper to build a new home if the renovations are extensive. This often depends on the scope of work, the condition of the existing property and your long-term plans. In some cases, sentimental value also plays a part in deciding whether to renovate or rebuild.

  • We want to renovate our house. What order do we need to do things in?

To start the renovation process, it’s best to have house plans drawn up first. If structural changes are involved, engineering plans may also be required. Once the plans are ready, we can review the details and provide a quote.

  • How long will the renovation take?

The timeframe depends on the size and complexity of the renovation. Once we’ve prepared your quote and reviewed the plans, we’ll be able to provide a clearer timeline for the project.

  • Do we have to move out during renovations?

In many cases it isn’t necessary to move out during renovations. We aim to keep disruption to a minimum and work with you to ensure the process is as comfortable and manageable as possible.

  • Do I need council approval for home renovations?

Not always, but some types of renovations, especially structural changes, extensions or external work, may require council approval or permits.

Projects that alter the layout, add new structures or impact neighbouring properties typically need approval. It’s worth checking with your local council or asking your builder for advice before starting.

  • What’s the difference between cosmetic and structural renovations?

Cosmetic renovations improve the appearance of a space without changing its structure. This can include painting, new fittings or cabinetry.

Structural renovations involve larger changes such as removing walls, reconfiguring rooms or adding new space. Cosmetic upgrades are usually quicker and less complex, while structural work requires more planning and construction.

Renovating Your Home Properly

A well-done renovation should improve how a space works, not just how it looks. That’s why every detail matters, from the materials we use to the finishes we apply. Our home renovations cover both internal and external improvements, helping create spaces that are more practical, comfortable and suited to how you live.

Some of the renovation work we carry out includes:

  • Cladding & re-pointing
  • Verandahs, decking & balconies
  • Kitchens, bathrooms & layout changes
  • Outbuildings & entertainment areas
  • Painting, cabinetry, lighting & cosmetic upgrades

We also carry out office renovations designed around function and first impressions, creating workspaces that support productivity while reflecting your brand. Throughout the project, we coordinate trades carefully and keep you informed so the renovation progresses smoothly and the finished space works the way it should.
